On our long drive, we got to drive along the Susquehanna River for a while.
It was so pretty and peaceful!
Connie showed us this, It is in Palmyra.
This is 4 Corners Churches.
There is a different religion of church on every corner.
You used to be able to get a pic with all 4 steeples but when we were there,
there was a tree that needed trimming and blocked the view of the 4th steeple.

We are standing in the front kitchen of Joseph Smith's childhood log home.
They lived here until they could afford to build their bigger home just down the path.
This is the bedroom upstairs where all the children slept together.

This is the new home that they built down the path. They had 11 people living in this house if I remember right. We were joking about that because we will have 11 soon in our family and I can't imagine living in such a small space!
Under these bricks was a small hiding spot where Joseph hid the plates when the mobs would come to attack. There a few loose ones with a little cubby hole underneath.
Once when the mobs came, he didn't have time to hide the plates under the bricks so he ran to where his sisters were sleeping and hid them under her skirt and she pretended to still be asleep till they left. Luckily they left her a lone!

Then you can walk a little ways to the entrance of the Sacred Grove. Obviously no one knows exactly where anything happened, but it is so shady and peaceful!
Connie and Dell have some long time friends that live in Palmyra so we paid them a visit
They had a really old and nice dog that the 2 animal lovers would not leave alone!!! I'm sure she was so glad to see us drive away, but she humored Rylan really well!
That night we had tickets to the Hill Cumorah Pageant.
The cast members are all walking around the audience until the show starts and they talk with you (or take pic's). Love watching it and I hope the kids enjoyed it and understood and remember it.
I might expand on the journal part of this post later, but for now, it's short and simple. Rylan is climbing all over me and I can't even think straight :o)
