Rich's birthday at the Grotto

For birthday's around here, we celebrate as a family! We try to do something that everyone can do. This year, the kids and I tried to think of something that Rich would want to do. Our thoughts were hiking the Y, hiking the falls, a place called Spring lake... ( I think that was it's name), and a friend told us about the Grotto up Payson Canyon. We decided with as many little kids as we have this year, that we would do something a little easier and stay close, so we chose the Grotto. The kids thought it would be a so fun! We have a trailer and had been camping a few times and they decided to make a cake with a camping theme and then go hike in the "woods" to the Grotto. We invited all of his brothers and sister and his parents to come play with us. The kids had a blast but the water was freezing!

R
ich's cake with our trailer, a tent, a picnic lunch, campfire, and a lake full of fish to fish in.

Dallas did an awesome job of shaping all of the picnic pieces and fishing pole and fish!

Our campfire complete with roasting marshmallows!

The Grotto

If you haven't been there, it is a cute little waterfall that drops into this circular bed of rocks and forms a pool and is surrounded by tall rocks that almost form a cave. It was very pretty and on a less busy day, it would be very relaxing!
